Tony Mack Smith

Tony Mack Smith, 67, of Hughes Springs passed away December 28, 2021. Mr. Smith was born November 11, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Mack E. Smith and Wynell Currey Smith Steely. Tony was a member of Jenkins United Methodist Church.
Tony worked at Lone Star Steel for 12 years before dedicating 30 years to Kimberly-Clark as a maintenance mechanic. There he was affectionately called "Captain" by his coworkers. During that time he also devoted 28 years to Pilgrim's Pride as a poultry grower. In November of 2019 he retired to spend more time traveling with his family. His favorite place to be was Branson, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and collecting antique hardware.
Mr. Smith graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1973. He then received an Associates Degree from Kilgore College.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kim Smith; and one son, Tanner Smith, currently stationed in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Tony loved his son and loved to tell everyone how proud he was of all of his accomplishments. Tony is also survived by his mother, Wynell Steely; his brothers, Kelley Smith, Jody Smith and wife, Heidi; his step-sister, Suzie Steely Swearingen and husband, Randall; sister-in-law, Amy Ingram and husband Mack; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mack E. Smith; and step-father, Cliff Steely.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Vestal officiating. Burial will follow at Bradfield Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

No words can express the sadness we feel for you. I know I don't have to tell you what a great man Tony was. May God's Grace and Mercy surround you in the coming days. Rest in Peace classmate and friend.

I didn know Tony well, but his Mom is a member of my chrch (Jenkins Methodist) and we have all been praying for Tony and his mom. But God needed this man and called him home. My love and care to Tonys family. Bless you all.
