Wayne Carroll Dennis, beloved husband, dad and proud grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2015 at the age of 77 He was born December 7, 1937 in Bluff Dale, Texas to Dooley Hardy and Ada Narcissus Ripley. He enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country for four years. He was stationed on the USS Lowry and went all over the country and served in the Korean Conflict. He worked on pipelines in Fairbanks an Anchorage, Alaska for several years, was a general foreman with Brown & Root Construction, a master plumber and retired from maintenance at Mount Pleasant ISD. He loved raising cattle, bailing hay, working the land, and gardening. He was a Master Mason of Hughes Springs Masonic Lodge No. 671 and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Endowed Member. He was a Past Patron of Hughes Springs Chapter No. 349 Order of the Eastern Star. And last but most importantly, he was a Christian and a member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church. Wayne is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of 35 years, Robbye Grimes Dennis; two daughters, Lori Lynn Dennis of Austin and Lisa Ann Sammons and her husband Robert of Southlake; two sons, Wayne Hardie Dennis and his wife Maureen of Webster, NY and Gary Hirsch and his wife Margaret of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren, Lindsey Dennis, Keifer Dennis, Vivienne Dennis, Nora Sammons, Pierce Sammons, Mandy Roop, Cory Hirsch; three great-grandchildren, Hayley Councilman, Evan Roop, and Levi Roop. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeann Leonard. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Services will be Friday, September 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Reeder-Davis Chapel with Rev. Les Colley officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Harris Chapel Cemetery, Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. The family would like to especially thank Mack and Prani Covey for their tireless love and care during Waynes stay in Dallas. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Harris Chapel Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4, Hughes Springs, TX 75656.
