William Bill Owens,75, of Longview, passed away Sunday , July 20, 2014 in Longview . He was born July 4,1939 in Mt. Pleasant, Tx. to H.E. Owens and Viola Jordan Owens. He was formerly employed with NASA, retired from Swepco after over 35 years, and served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Owens favorite past time was playing the bass guitar for his community, church, and family. He was a member of Zion Tabernacle Church in White Oak, Tx. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Elizabeth Anne Conn Owens; three daughters, Debra Owens Smith, Karen Owens Tuel, Sharon Owens Craig; three grandchildren; Jonathan Rogers, Shaelyn Hyatt Bobbitt, Serena Tuel; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Owens (Debbie); one sister Gloria Glass ( J.E.); one sister-in-law, Pat Yochum (Charles) and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J.W. Owens and Ray Owens, and three nephews. Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M., Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the Chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden with Bro. G.A. Stanfield officiating. Burial to follow in the Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
