Let the works Ive done, Oh Lord, Speak for me. Willie Carl Terry was born October 6, 1929 in Avinger, Texas to Carl and Della Neal-Terry. He was a dedicated member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where he served as an active deacon until complications of health developed in his later years. Willie Carl attended Duncan High School, in Avinger, Texas, where he graduated class of 1949; also attended Texas College, in Tyler, Texas. Nevertheless, through dedication to his family and country he served in the U.S. Army, where he received honorable discharge, where as he later retired from Lone Star Steel after 32 years of service. On September 25, 1957, W. C. and Bobbie Jean Jones-Terry were united in holy matrimony and soon began their life together, full of memorable experiences. To this union, one daughter and six sons were born. Willie Carl was well respected amongst most and was a very dedicated and loving individual who believed in Family first. Throughout his town, he was known for his sense of humor. He was a huge Hughes Springs Mustang and Avinger Indian fan, and very outspoken when it came to his sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Della Terry; his lovely wife of 41 years, Bobbie Jean Terry; one brother, Armond Royal; one sister, Lola Mae Royal; two grandsons, Samuel Castle and Javon Terry; one granddaughter, Shataiah Terry, and two great grandchildren, TyKamarion and Myricall Terry. Willie Carl leaves to cherish his memories, eight children, Kevin Terry, of Dallas, Texas, Donald Terry, of Hughes Springs, Willie Terry (Trish), of Dallas, Texas, Ronnie Terry (Tereasa), of Hughes Springs, Della Payne (James), of Hughes Springs, Darrin Terry (Shawantra), of Daingerfield, Danny Terry, of Hughes Springs, and Cedrick Irvings, of Jefferson; one brother Ruby Jewel Terry (Oraestress), of Dallas, Texas; a special niece, Pamela Turner (Bobbie Earl), of Dallas, Texas; three very special friends, Diedra Henderson, Sherry Thomas, and Tommy Walker; 21 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Willie Carl Terry are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Avinger. Mr. Terry will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday at Reeder-Davis in Hughes Springs.

  1. Heaven gained a very special man today. I don't know that we ever saw him without a smile on his face, even when he was hollering at a ref/ump. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We cannot understand how one minute this person was here and the next they are gone. The truth is that those we love are never truly gone. The body may have run its course, but the soul lives forever. Dad- Mr. Willie Carl Terry was a kind, loving and unforgetable MAN. I will miss him dearly and LOVE him forever. "RIP" Dad..
