Willie Montgomery Sr

Mr. Willie Lee Montgomery, Sr. was born to Mattie and Eddie Montgomery on September 10, 1921. He attended Macedonia School, Jefferson, TX where he completed his education. He served in the US Army in 1941. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #286. He was employed at Lone Star Steel for 30 years where he retired. At an early age he joined Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. He was a faithful member and musician for the Soul Sisters, Cedar Grove, Macedonia Methodist Church and Cedar Grove Male Chorus until his health failed. On September 11, 1948 he united in marriage with Ophelia Stoker, to this union six children were born. His wife preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: Willie L. Jr. and wife Claudette Montgomery, Douglas and wife Marion Montgomery, both of Houston; Shelia and husband Tommy Cooper, Allen Montgomery of Diana, Devoria and husband Don Hicks, and Flora Smith of Dallas; one sister, Johnnie M. Lynn of Dallas; two brothers, Esque and Ennis Montgomery, both of Diana; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of wonderful relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
