Services for Ms. Opal Allen, 92, of Omaha, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Omaha. Burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Opal Ruth Allen was born September 13, 1931, in Omaha, Texas, to Dock and Jane Parker. Sis. Allen accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and held strong in her faith in God. She joined Union Chapel Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until her health failed. She served as President on the Usher Board for several years. She retired as a dietitian from Redbud Nursing Home. After retirement, she enjoyed working outside in her yard and sitting drinking tea on the porch.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard Allen; her parents, Jane and Dock Parker; sisters, Maurine Kelly, Artillia Lee, Jessie Rambo; brothers, John Parker, Arbury Parker, Milton Parker, Otis Parker, and Luther Parker; and a daughter, Jackie Grant Paul. She leaves to mourn two sons, Larry (Mimi) Grant, Vivian (Jean) Porter; and daughter, Debra Byrd, all of Longview, Texas. She also leaves to mourn grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
