Linda passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends, on May 16, 2026, in Atlanta, Texas. Born on Jan. 16, 1951, in Stockton, California, she was the daughter of Rev. Roy L. Howlett Sr. and Emma Louise Howlett.

Linda lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She was deeply involved in her church throughout her life, faithfully teaching preschool Sunday School at First Baptist Church Linden and singing in the church choir for many years. She found great joy in serving others and sharing her talents with those she loved.

A gifted seamstress and creative spirit, Linda especially loved sewing and making special things for her grandchildren. She also treasured taking photographs and made sure everyone always received copies to remember precious moments together.

Linda worked at Fuller Supply until 1974, when she and her husband, Leonard H. Boney Sr., opened Leonard’s Floor Covering. Together they faithfully operated the business until retiring in 2002. She later returned to work as secretary for First Baptist Church Linden, where she served until retiring due to health reasons. Linda also earned a degree in Interior Design, reflecting her eye for beauty and creativity.

She is survived by her son, Leonard H. Boney, Jr. and wife Marilyn; grandchildren, James H. Boney and wife TeAnn, and Joseph L. Boney and wife K’Lee; and great-grandchildren, Cutter Boney, Kasyn Grubbs, Mellie Boney, Marcie Boney, and Parker Boney.

She is also survived by her brother, Rev. Roy L. Howlett, Jr. and wife Beth; sister, Julia L. Shadix and husband Mark; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friend, Justin Gutierrez, who was like a second son to her. She enjoyed mentoring him during her time working at First Baptist Church in Linden.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard H. Boney Sr.; her father, Rev. Roy L. Howlett Sr.; and her mother, Emma Louise Howlett.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses of Heritage Hospice and to Linda’s special “gossip buddy” for their loving care and companionship.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Linden Youth Fund.
