Rolan C. Simpson, devoted husband, father and friend, departed this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2006. Rolan was born to Alvin V. Simpson and Birdie Rhyne Simpson March 3, 1920 in Avinger, Texas, attended Avinger High School and College of Marshall before serving in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Dorothy Bush Simpson of Lubbock, Texas in 1947. Roland was active in the lumber and house building business in Avinger and Lubbock during most of his career. His civic duties sent him serving as a City Councilman in Lubbock and as a potentate for the Khiva Shrine Center in Amarillo in the 70?s (the center is dedicated to treating severe burns in children). He retired to Sedona and Phoenix, Arizona and in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rolan had a unique style for making everyone he met feel special and welcomed. Rolan is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bush Simpson of Tulsa, OK, John B. Simpson, PhD and M.D. (son) and wife Lynn of Woodside, CA; D?Aunn Simpson (daughter) of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren: Kimberly and Dr. David Mauney, Lindi and Dr. Philippe Marco, Kendall and Douglas Rohlen, John David Simpson, Amy Binion, and Cuyler Binion.
