HUGHES SPRINGSFuneral services for Alma Stern, 88, of Omaha will be 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 1 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Daingerfield with Rev. D.A. Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Whitmore Cemetery in Daingerfield under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Viewing will be Tuesday morning and afternoon until 5:00 p.m. Sis. Alma Stern was born November 8, 1919 to the parentage of Dan and Hattie Henderson in Morris County. She united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, remaining a faithful member until death. She served as a deaconess, sang in the choir, attended both Sunday school and church faithfully. She was united in marriage to Willie Bill" Stern on November 8, 1936 and to this union six children were reared. Her parents, three brothers, Jeff Henderson, Joe Henderson, and Winston Henderson; and one son, Melvin Smith, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories, four loving nieces that she raised as her own daughters, Gloria Douglas (Charlie) of Omaha, Josephine Choice (John) of Ft. Worth, Betty Conwright (Robert) of Humble, and Zetha Fisher of Tyler; two nephews that she raised as her sons, Melvin Smith of Daingerfield and Paul Bell of Houston; one sister, Henrietta Bell of Omaha; and one brother, Earnest Henderson of Arkansas; her close to heart kids, Roland (Ray Ray) Everett, Tyrone Kemp, and Shaquille (Shaq) Douglas; a host of other nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was a mother to all kids in the community.
