Services for Alvie Currey, 86, of Hughes Springs, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Center Grove Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Mr. Currey was born November 17, 1929 to A.D. Currey, Sr. and Hazell Traylor Currey in the Center Point Community of Cass County.. He attended school in Hughes Springs.
Alvie served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, he attended Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology. He loved to fly! Mr. Currey worked in the aerospace industry most of his life and had a hand in most everything that has been in space.

Alvie was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Gloria Diane Currey.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sallie Gerbish Currey; his daughter, Brenda Currey Griffin and husband Tommy; son, Marty Currey; grandchildren, Kenny, Andrew (Virgina) and Katie Griffin, and Wren Currey; one great-granddaughter, Nora Wynn; brothers, Floyd Currey and Preston Currey; sisters, Wynell Steely and Carolyn Hicks; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

His family, all of his family, was what he lived for.
