Funeral services for A.N. Doc Butler, 79 of Hughes Springs, will be at 10 AM on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Reeder-Davis Chapel with Rev. Larry Neeley officiating. Burial will be at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Butler was born on December 28, 1929 in Bodcaw, AR to Vester Edwin, Sr. and Edna Butler and died on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at a Linden hospital. Mr. Butler was a US Marine Korean War Veteran. He retired from Lone Star Steel after 32 years. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Betty of Hughes Springs; one son Tommy (Sandra) Butler of Liberty City, TX; five daughters Karen (Michael) Chandler of Ward, AR, Debra (Frank) Washington of Linden, TX, Ann (David) Tackett of Diana, TX, Peggy (Bob) Talley of Decatur, TX and Linda (Gregg) Price of Diana, TX; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter Sandra Bess Butler. Mr. Butler will lie in state on Thursday, June 18th and the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.
