Funeral services for Barbara A. Lynn, age 79, of Daingerfield, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Ms. Lynn will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.
On July 6, 1945, Barbara Anderson Lynn was born the sixth child out of seven to Bernice Anderson and Howard Anderson. She joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age. She became the musician at Mt. Pilgrim in her early teenage years. She organized a very good choir and they traveled many places, singing and praising God. She later became the musician for Pine Grove Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas until her health began to fail.
Barbara loved people and was friendly to everyone. She attended school in Tyler, later moving to Lake O ‘the Pines. She attended Victory High School where she graduated. Then Barbara attended nursing school to become an LVN. She worked at Douglas Hospital for many years. She met and married the love of her life, Anderson Matthew Lynn “Skinny”. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Patricia LeAnn Lynn Castleberry and a son, DeMarco Lynn.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Anderson Lynn; her parents, Howard and Bernice Anderson; her son, DeMarco Lynn; brothers: Rev. Robert Anderson, and Albert Flyer; two sisters: Claudine Jackson and Lillie Pearl Johnson; great-grandson, Tykeelin E. Frazier; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Lynn.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Patricia Lynn Castleberry of Daingerfield; grandsons: Rashad Lynn (Kayla) of Lake O’ the Pines, DeAndre Lynn of Lake O ‘the Pines, Bobby Nelson of Dallas; granddaughters: Gaybrielle Lynn of Tyler, Rebecca Nelson of Dallas; great-granddaughter: Sofia Gonzales; great-grandson, Jy’Keelin Frazier, Arayas Lynn, Jr. Khyron Brandt-Cooper, Bobby Nelson, Jr., Skyler, Nelson, and Kendria Brandt-Cooper; two sisters, Alice Montgomery and Betty Hicks, both of Lake O’ the Pines; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
