Betty Sue was born in Gilmer, Texas on November 13,1942. She was the daughter of Desmer and Myrtle Stanley. Jesus called her home on February 9, 2011. Betty was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. Betty was a homemaker and an avid fisherman. She lived a gracious life, filled with love and emotion. Betty never met a stranger and loved generously, without condition. Betty was a strong woman who cherished her loved ones dearly, and spent her life and dedicated all her time to loving all her family. Betty loved all children and in her later years her grandchidren were her world. Betty is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Angie Pennington and Theresa and C.W. Davis, of Hughes Springs; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph Helms of Avinger and Danny and Kathy Helms of Lake of the Pines; one brother, Billy Wayne Stanley of Ore City. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Betty, Christopher, Justin, Brittani, Maxie, Margo, and Joseph; 4 great grandhildren, Brandon, Bailey, Brody, and Boston. She also enjoyed a truckload of nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Powell, and four bothers, Bobby Joe, Alton, Neil, and Donald Ray.
