LINDEN TX A memorial service for Bettye Lou Bennett, 81, of Douglassville will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday. March 25, 2012 at Linden United Methodist Church with Bro. Neil Adams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden. Bettye was born to John and Blanche Wilson Bushart of February 9, 1931 in Cass County, Texas. She attended school in Houma Louisiana and graduated from Linden High School in 1948. On October 20, 1960 she married Otha Bill Bennett in Dallas. She worked for Sears and Cabels Dairies while living in Dallas. In 1970, they relocated to Red Hill, Texas and operated grocery stores in Warren Springs and Red Hill for several years. She retired from the Cass County Treasurers Office in 2006. Bettye was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the Linden Chapter 576 of the Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bill, and a daughter Lisa of Douglassville; a brother, Bob Childress, his wife, Betty, and niece, Laura Childress all of Van Alstyne; two step-sons, Ronny Bennett of Tyler and Gene, and his wife, Cindy Bennett, of Kaufman; her life long and very special friend, Billie Williams of Royce City and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, V.D. and Fannie Wilson and Dick and Ida Bushart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
