Funeral services for Mr. Billy Don Hyde, age 83, of Daingerfield, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  There will be a time of visitation with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the funeral home.

Billy Don Hyde passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024, in Longview, Texas.

Billy was born on June 2, 1941, in Rosebud, Texas, to Cleo and Julia Mae White Hyde. He graduated from Gilmer High School in 1959 and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. On June 17, 1961, he married the love of his life, JoAnne Johnson Hyde. Billy dedicated over 35 years of his career to Lone Star Steel.

A man of deep faith and warmth, Billy was known for his kindness and his love of fishing. He had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went and was beloved by all who knew him.

Billy was preceded in death by his son, David Alan Hyde; his parents, Julia and Cleo Hyde; his brother-in-law, Stanley Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Rosalie Thomas.

He is survived by his devoted wife, JoAnne Hyde; his children: Julie Combest (Clint), Kathy Stewart (Jimmy), and Mary Crawford (Clifton); his brother, Authur Hyde (Eunnie); his brother-in-law, Ronald Johnson (Adriana); his sisters-in-law: Carolyn Riggen, Katherine Simmons, and Gerry Avlakeotes; seven grandchildren: Chellyn Wilson, Cheston Wilson (Kristyn), Cayli Moore (Brandon), Lauren Guajardo (Jube), Lori Loyd (Cody), Jared Crawford, and Brooke Brooks (Nelson); 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He also leaves behind his nephew, Kevin Hyde; his nieces: Elisa Baird and Christal Skinner (Todd); as well as numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Billy’s memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to love, faith, and friendship, and he will be greatly missed.
