Funeral services for Mr. Billy Wayne McKinney, age 81, of Hughes Springs, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at Hughes Springs Methodist Church, with Pastor Chad Mitchell officiating.  Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Billy Wayne McKinney was born January 8, 1943, in Hughes Springs, Texas to D.J. and Maudie McKinney.  He passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, June 11, 2024.  He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Humphrey in 1961. They have been married for 62 years and were blessed with four boys.  Billy Wayne was a Methodist, Master Mason of the Hughes Springs Masonic Lodge #671, and a member of the Hella Temple Shrine.  He was the 2nd Generation owner  of McKinney Food Services. Mr. McKinney was one of seven Founding Fathers of the National Independent Concessionaires Association and served as President from 1996-1997 and Director from 1993-2000 of the NICA.  He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hughes Springs Chamber of Commerce in 1987.  He was a member of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions in 1979, and later became one of the first associate members to be on the IAFE board.  Billy Wayne took pride in being a loving husband, dad, granddad, and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, D.J. and Maudie McKinney; son, Tim McKinney; brother, L. Ray McKinney; sisters: Berniece Fickling and Margie Westmoreland.

Billy Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Linda McKinney; son and daughters-in-law: Adam and Teresa McKinney, Shawn and Brandi McKinney, Ron and Peyton McKinney; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bill was always such a wonderful friend and personal supporter — I have great memories of being together at meetings, of popping in to say HI whenever I’d see y’all out at fairs. He always had that great smile. He was a giant in the fair industry and leaves a tremendous legacy.
