Funeral services for Bobbie Ann Skipper Watkins, 79, of Hughes Springs, will be at 2 P.M. Monday, May 2, at First Baptist Church in Hughes Springs with the Rev. B.F. Risinger officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Springs Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Watkins family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-6 p.m. Sunday. She died Friday, April 29 at a Longview hospital. She was born August 7, 1931 in Daingerfield to William Otis and Annie F. Skipper. She and her husband owned and operated Leons of Hughes Springs for 40 years. A member of First Baptist Church of Hughes Springs, she was active in W.M.U., and she taught Act Teens and Sunday School for many years. She was an early organizer of Wildflower Trails of Texas, and was a member of Sesame Literary Club. Mrs.Watkins enjoyed baking cookies, and loved watching birds in her yard. She is survived by her husband Leon of Hughes Springs; a son and daughter-in-law Brent and Tara Watkins of Lufkin; one sister and brother-in-law Sandy Flannigan and George A. Newton IV; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law Sylvia and Doug Holland of Hughes Springs and Norma Niblett Skipper of Mount Pleasant; and nieces and nephews Grant and Kelly Holland of Longview, and Dennis Skipper and Dyan Robles, both of California. They both have always had a special place in my heart and always will. She was a wonderful lady who left a lasting impression on all that she met. She will be dearly missed by all.
