Bobby Daniel Allen, 75, of Longview was born October 18, 1934 in Albertville, Alabama to Claudie and Ola May Swords Allen. He died June 28, 2010 in a Longview hospital. Bobby served our country in the U.S. Air Force, and the Army National Guard for over 15 years. He was also a police officer in Guntersville, Alabama, and worked for The Made-Rite Company in Longview for many years. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Allen of Longview, Sons and daughter-in-law Jeff and Sheila Allen, Danny Allen and Ricky Allen all of Alabama, step-sons and daughters-in-law Wayne and Wanda Bethard of Longview, Don and Judi Bethard of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Tony and Linda Bethard of Mt. Vernon, 3 brothers, Benny, Bronny and Billy Allen all of Alabama, and one sister Cathy Brewton also of Alabama, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Debra Bishop and a brother Barry Lanny Allen. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Reeder Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Hughes Springs with Rev. Charles Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 7pm until 9pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

I was out of state and unable to make it back for the funeral, but wanted to be there.One of my first jobs at the Made-Rite was assisting Bobby for the summer when I was 14.
