Charles ‘Charlie’ Austin Hull, 72, of Hughes Springs, Texas was born August 9, 1950, in Cass County to Charles ‘Jigger’ N. and Eloise Thornton Hull.  He went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:33 p.m. on April 4, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Charles always stated he felt closest to God in what he called “God’s country” which to him was a lake, a mountain top, in an open field, or in the midst of a forest.

Charles graduated from Hughes Springs High School in 1968.  He attended Kilgore College in 1968 and 1969.

In 1970, he entered the Army National Guard.  His basic training was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  He was honorably discharged in 1976.

Charles lifetime career was in industrial construction.  He helped build the first, and one of the largest, solar power plants in California’s Mojave Desert.  He worked for Brown & Root, Luz Construction, and his final employment was with Lone Star Steel, retiring in 2012.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Jigger and Eloise Hull.

He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Geraldine Mitchell Hull; son, Christopher Hull, of Hughes Springs, son and daughter, Samuel Lance Hull, and Lea Ann Hull (he never considered her a daughter-in-law), of Thomas Oklahoma; granddaughter, Kathryn Grace Hull of College Station Texas;, and grandson, Ely Nolian Hull, of Thomas Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law, George and Tabitha Hull of Athens Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services for Charles will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Joey Williams and Bro. Dean Grigsby officiating.  Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs.  There will be a time of visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church at P.O. Box 277, Hughes Springs, Texas 75656.
