Longview, Texas
Our Heavenly Father received Cleontine (Tina) D. Sayles-Henderson of Longview, Texas on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the age of 60, in the loving comfort of her home.
Tina was born on the 20th of November 1963 in Lone Star, Texas to parents Samuel and Imogene Sayles. She received her formal education at the Ore City Independent School District. There she would go on to graduate with the Class of 1982, and some of her classmates remained close like family. While at Ore City High School Tina participated in several sports and activities; including volleyball, basketball, and cheer. She went on to attend Kilgore Junior College to study Fashion Merchandising; fashion was one of her first loves. Many remember her for her flashy style and infectious personality.
Since Tina was so eager to earn her own money, she started working her first job at Waffle Shoppe in Longview while in High School and stayed employed there through college. And because she was no stranger to hard work, she held various titles for different jobs throughout her lifetime. Just to name a few of the companies; Lerner Clothing Store, Rockwell International, Thiokol Chemical Corporation (Longhorn Amo Plant) TNT, Home Health Care, Longview Mall SMS, and Cracker Barrel. During her time of employment with Cracker Barrel, she received several prestigious awards.
At an early age, Tina joined Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, where she attended with her mom and siblings. She then later joined New Hope Baptist Church in Ore City, Texas. Her Christian upbringing was very important to her Father who later taught her children to also have a love for God.
On September 4, 2016, Tina married Jim Henderson, whom she loved dearly. Their union consisted of 6 children and 3 grandchildren. Tina’s friendliness and outgoing personality towards others, filled with passion and life, made everyone more drawn to her.
Tina loved hanging out with loved ones. Dancing, listening to music (especially the Oldies but Goodies) and watching classic sitcoms were a few of her favorite things. She also enjoyed taking occasional trips to the casino.
Tina was a huge Drew Pearson fan (#88) and some of her greatest pleasures were watching the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and decorating her home inside and out for the holidays and every special occasion. In addition, she was very proud of her landscape, keeping up with her lovely roses and other plants.
She was preceded in death by her father and Mother; Samuel C. and Imogene “Gene” Sayles.
Those left to cherish her memories are: Her loving and caring Husband, Jim Henderson of Longview. Children: Troy L. Sayles of North Carolina, Tamila D. Sayles of Arlington, and Leticia Henderson (3 grandchildren) of West Virginia. Bonus Mom, Janet Lynn Sayles of Ore City and Godfather Hosea (Sugar Boy) McCain and family. Siblings: Clara “Net” (Glyen) Royal of Avinger, Texas, Sheldon C. Sayles (Connie Jimmerson) of Longview, Texas, Stefanie Sayles-Watson (Rick Rodgers) of Rowlett, Texas, Avery Parker of Lake O Pines, Texas, Yameka Parker (Anthony Ford) of Ore City, Texas and Roderick Parker of Ore City, Texas. Special nieces and nephews; Tamieka (Neal) Stewart, David Royal Jr., Shenerika (Matthew) Coleman, Shenika Abron, J’Kyri Menefee, Dashaunna Royal, Kaelyn Coleman, Jaylen Coleman. As well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church, with Bro. Tony Pierce officiating. Burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.
