Curley Jimmerson

June 3, 1913 ~ August 23, 2016
She attended Rockwall School on Highway 155. In 1931, at the age of 18, she married Arthur Criss and three children were born; Clarine Banks (Roger) of Avinger, James A Criss (Pearl), and Violet Collier (Hollis) of Lone Star. Arthur passed away and Curley later met Lurie Potsie) Jimmerson. They were married in 1938 and had two children; Lurie C. Jimmerson (Eva) of Lone Star and Delois Brown (Charles) of Cason.
She joined Rock Island at an early age and was a dedicated member until her health failed. She served as Sunday School teacher, served on the deacon board, was choir president, and missionary president.
Mama Curley, as she was known, was loved by all and she loved all in return. Her love never failed. Her quote to the family was, Let us all love one another, stand strong together, and be there for one another.
Mama Curley was an example of how godly women are to conduct themselves; modest beyond measure, strong in faith, and an awesome prayer warrior. Daily she consulted to her God and was faithful until death.
Curley Rebecca Simmons Criss Jimmerson leaves a legacy of love and how to walk as a Christian according to the word of God. She is preceded in death by both husbands, Arthur Criss and Lurie Jimmerson; and two sons, James Criss and Lurie C. Jimmerson. Her family extends to include five children; 26 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 60 great great-grandchildren (a total of 149 immediate family members); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She loved us all and we all loved her.
Services for Mrs. Jimmerson will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Rock Island Non-Denominational Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mama Curley will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
I will always remember Aunt Curley for her love and dedication to her entire family. Most of all her love for God and how she remained steadfast with the Lord all of my life she remained humble and showed her unconditional love to all. Our many talks and times together will forever be in my heart. She will be truly missed. I know in my heart she is smiling down from heaven singing if it had not been for the Lord on my side where would I be. Family be encouraged and come closer together like she wanted us to and love one another unconditionally. Be blessed Sheila Simmons
