Danny Myron Mayton
May 18, 1958 ~ March 3, 2021
Danny Myron Mayton, age 62, born May 18, 1958, of Douglassville, Texas, went home to His Lord Jesus on March 3, 2021. He was loved by many, a friend to all and will be missed dearly here on earth.
Danny was a “character from day one! His smile, twinkling eyes, and legendary dance moves were his trademarks. Danny was known for his laugh and constant teasing. With only a few lessons at age 8, he self taught himself to play the guitar, bass, dobro and any other stringed instrument he picked up. Danny could play guitar and sing like no one else. He was always supportive in his children’s activities….raising show steers, Boy Scout Leader, andL-K Band Booster President among some of them. He loved to fish, hunt, and camp in Arkansas. He collected coins, arrowheads, guitars, stamps, knives and guns. He loved one woman and was a father to three children. He was the best father and husband anyone could ask for. Danny was a minister for many years and especially loved his time at Douglassville Baptist Church where he served for 13 years and remained a member. Danny touched many lives during his ministry.
He was preceded in death by Lester and Elaine Mayton, parents and Violet Anderson, mother-in-law.
He is survived by his love of 42 years, Sandra (Sandy) Mayton of Douglassville TX, two daughters, Dana Mayton and April Bell of Nash TX, daughter and fiancé, Natalie Abernathy and Cory Mangrum of Linden, TX, and one son, Joshua Mayton of Nash, TX; four precious grandchildren he adored, Kyleigh Abernathy, Kadence Abernathy, Ethan Abernathy and Saylor Mayton; two sisters, Dianna Moore and husband, Daniel Moore, and Jane Bumgardner, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Tracy Mayton and wife Tanya Mayton, and Mark Mayton and wife, JoAnn Mayton; many nieces, nephews, and “church kids” he loved!
Special Thanks to Dianna Moore for her help and loving care of Danny! He loved you as a sister!
Special Thanks to Roger Fouse who visited Danny without fail each week and took time with him.

There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Dear Friends and Family:
I met Danny Mayton in 1976 when God crossed our paths in Fouke, Arkansas. I believe God put us together and sent us on a journey in this life. It was an honor to be his wife and friend and travel our jouney together. Danny always said “Life is a gift from God.” I watched him live that life!
He had written in his Bible:
“ My greatest accomplishment through God!!! When I was saved ! 1979 at Center Grove Baptist Church Revival Bro. Roy Paul Jones, Evangelist
“God may not give us an easy road to the Promised Land, but He will give us a safe one.”
Danny did not have an “easy road” , but he was a man of great strength ..not only physically, but spiritually. He loved people, loved to talk, was a great listener, loved God’s church, loved his family, loved his three children, adored the grandchildren, and considered everyone he met …..his friend.
He always said he was given a “thorn in the flesh”…..his poor health, yet even then he lived each day whether it was climbing rocks at the Cossatot on crutches or driving full speed in the power chair after he lost his left leg! There was no stopping him from living life.
He made friends everywhere he went…work, church, grocery stores, hospitals, long term acute care, rehabilitation, home health, nursing home and hospice just to name few.
I know Danny would want you to know….you were his cherished friend and family. He would also tell you to “live life to the fullest…life is a gift from God”.
2 Timothy 4:7
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith!”
