Dennis Lee Norris, 65, of Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away at his home on August 26, 2024. Born in Houston, Texas, Dennis was a dedicated and hardworking man who touched the lives of many.

Dennis honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy, where he developed a strong sense of duty. Dennis built a successful career as a manager at Trico, where he worked for over 20 years. His colleagues and friends remember him as a fair and compassionate man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A faithful member of the First Baptist Church since 1994, Dennis’s deep commitment to his faith was reflected in his everyday actions. Dennis was a man of integrity, with a warm heart and a genuine love for people. Dennis found great joy in the outdoors, especially in hunting and fishing.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Brandt; his father, Joseph Norris; his son, Michael A. James; and his brother, David Norris.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl Norris; his daughter, Beth Pitzer; his cherished grandchildren: William Christopher James, Sara Pitzer, Mary James, Allison Dawson and her husband Michael, Brandon Lance Pitzer and his wife Ashley, Siara Pitzer, and Michael Aaron James. Dennis also leaves behind his brother, Timothy Duane Norris, and his wife Diana; and a host of friends.

There will be a time of viewing and visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Candle 2my daughter just happened to be doing her first chemo for ovarian cancer the day he rang the bell for his last chemo. she asked could she video it and he said yes. that just made her so happy. and then his obituary was posted and she just couldn’t believe it. i guess everybody in my family knew him except me. everybody had good things to say about what a good man he was if any of his family would like angie to message the video, let us know. sending love and prayers for ya’ll. we’re so, so sorry for your loss
