Don Edwin Hill, 81, of Linden, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at a local nursing home where he was a beloved resident, cared for with compassion and kindness.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Donβs life will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 10, 2025, in the chapel Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Β Burial will follow at New Colony Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. There will be a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. and lasting until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Don was born on January 1, 1944, in Abernathy, Texas, to B.T. and Edith Hill. Throughout his life, he worked a variety of jobs, always with dedication and a strong spirit. He especially loved running cattle and spending time fishing. Don had a generous heart and was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Known for his quick wit and playful sense of humor, he was a jokester who brought laughter to those around him. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominos, often partnering with his sister Colette for lively games of spades.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Melvin Lindsey; his brothers, Eugene Hill and Jerry Hill; his niece, Kendra Hill; his nephew, Kenneth Hill; and his great-nephew, Kenny Hill.
He is survived by his sister, Colette Lawless and her husband Jeff of Atlanta, Texas; his brother, Earl Hill and his wife Patsy of Minden, Louisiana; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
