Donald Corbett, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Donald Gerald Corbett, Sr., 82, of Linden, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Linden. Burial will follow at Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the funeral home.

Donald Gerald Corbett, Sr. was born July 25, 1944, in LaMaeque, Texas, to Samuel Clayborne Corbett and Margaret Catherine Corbett.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he began a career in auto mechanics. In 1969, he met the love of his life, Janet Kay Eaves Corbett. Together, they shared 57 years of marriage and built a life centered around family and those they loved.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Janet Corbett; one daughter, Brenda Jackson and fiancé Bill George; one son, Donald Gerald Corbett, Jr. and wife Teresa Lynn Corbett; one granddaughter, Brianna Leigh Corbett and fiancé James Taylor; two great-granddaughters, Brynleigh Kaye Taylor and Oakley Paige Taylor; brothers, Sterling Corbett and wife Cindy, Stephen Corbett and wife Sheila, and Ronald “Ronnie” Corbett and Sam Corbett; two sisters, Stella Washington and Janie Brock; one brother-in-law, Jerry Eaves and wife Valerie; one aunt, Ruth Corbett; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Clayborne Corbett and Margaret Catherine Corbett; four brothers, Raymond Dick Corbett, Benjamin Thomas Corbett, Garrett Wayne Corbett, and John David Corbett; twin siblings who died in infancy; one sister, Carol Lee Mitriovich; his father-in-law, James Otis Eaves; his mother-in-law, Florence Eaves; one sister-in-law, Jill Haley; brothers-in-law, James Otis Eaves, Jr., Jerry Brock, and Milton Washington; and nephew, Andy Washington.

Donald will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country, and the many years he spent working with his hands and providing for those he loved. His memory will be cherished by his family and friends for years to come.
