Funeral services for D.W. (Dallas) Whitmore, of Daingerfield, will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at New Hope Baptist Church in Daingerfield, TX with Evangelist Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will be at Reynolds Cemetery in Daingerfield, TX under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Whitmore died on December 18, 2008 at a Bedford, TX nursing facility. D.W. Whitmore was born on June 12, 1919 to the parentage of Dallas and Nellie Whitmore. He was born in Cason, Texas and attended Sunview School. He confessed to Christ at a young age and joined New Hope Baptist Church. He is the last of ten children. He had six sisters and three brothers who all proceeded him in death. One child Dorothy Whitmore Brown, also preceded him in death. Deceased siblings were Floridia Roney, Beulah Gholston, Mattie Sanders, Clifford Thomas, Sophie Emma Traylor, Eliza Woodson, D.L. Godbolt, Hosea Walker and James Whitmore. He was married to Claudine Davis Whitmore for 71 years. To this union 2 children were born, Shirley Whitmore Fridia and Harold Whitmore (Constance) both of Dallas, Texas. D.W. has eight grandchildren, Danny Dillard, Edgar Whitmore, Cheryl and Bridgett Whitmore, of Dallas, TX, Carla Dillard Homer (Ronald) of Atlanta, GA, Troy Garrett of Dangerfield, TX, Jerry C. and Gregory Brown of Houston, TX; eight great grand children and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. D.W. spent his younger years helping others to keep food on their tables by providing job opportunities for many who were less fortunate. DW loved his family. He was loved by his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother-in-law, and uncle. D.W. retired from Lone Star Steel Plant at the age of 55. He had entrepreneur skills, but always allowed jobs to be created for others.
