Hughes Springs-Funeral services for Edward Police, 93, of Avinger, will be at Murray League Baptist Church in Ore City, on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. George Hancock officiating. Burial will be at Mims Chapel Cemetery in Avinger under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Edward Police was born on September 23, 1915 in Jefferson, TX to the late Major Police and Mary Jane Miller Police. He died on April 7, 2009 at a Longview, TX nursing home. He attended Jefferson Public Schools and was a member of the Warlock Methodist Church. Mr. Police worked at Lone Star Steel and retired after 25 years. He was united in matrimony to Pinkie Stance. To this union four children were born. He leaves to cherish his memories five sons Robert and wife Barbara Police of Ore City, Danny and wife Kendra Police of Dallas, James and wife Vickie Police of Ore City, David Police of Avinger; two daughters Ollie R. Narcisse of Houston and Shirley R. Durden of Dallas; four step-children Jimmy Rockwell and wife Thelma of San Diego, Earline Graham and Barbara Law both of Dallas, and Linda and husband Thomas Brown of Avinger; 25 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Viewing will be on Friday, April 10, 2009 from Noon to 5 PM at the funeral home in Hughes Springs.
