Funeral services for Ernestine McCain, 92, of Hughes Springs will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with the Rev. Wayne Norville officiating. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery. Mrs. McCain will lie in honor at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon and evening, and friends and family will gather there from 6-8 PM. Mrs. McCain died Saturday, March 20 at her residence. She was born January 1, 1918 near Hughes Springs. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She loved vegetable gardening and her roses, and watching hummingbirds. She was a care giver for many. She is survived by two sisters Bobbie Miller of Hughes Springs and Frances Hall of LaMarque; one niece and husband Marilyn and George Jewell of LaMarque; and four nephews and wives Greg and Donna Miller of Hughes Springs, Mike and Sadie Hall of Crowley, Milton Hall of Mount Pleasant and Milton and Willie Kay McCain of Hughes Springs; one great niece and husband Neisha and Randy Croley; one great nephew Kris King; and two great-great nieces Whitney King and Kyley MiRanda Croley, all of Omaha; and two special friends and their husbands Laurie and Murel Hall and Kerry and Shelia Golden, all of Hughes Springs.

You were one of the sweetest, truest Christian women I've ever known. I was very honored to be able to make the cake for your 90th birthday and cherish the picture of you with it. We will miss you terribly, think of you often. I loved your humor, your smile, your honesty, everything about you. I'm glad that Gary has wonderful memories of you. We know you that you are resting now and comfortable in the arms of your Savior. Thank you for being a beautiful light in our lives. We love you.
