Graveside services for Ms. Ethel Rankin, age 77, of Lone Star, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, at Harris Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  Ms. Rankin passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in Daingerfield, Texas.

Born on September 7, 1947, in Bonham, Texas, to Selma Benson Howell and Margaret May Alexander Howell, Ethel grew up with a strong spirit and a love for life’s simple pleasures. An avid reader, she had a particular passion for cookbooks and magazines, finding joy and inspiration in recipes and stories that nourished her creative soul. Ethel was also known for her love of gardening and flowers.  She retired from AT&T as a 2nd Line Supervisor after 49 years of service with the company.

Ethel was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her son, Robert Benson Worley; her brothers, Dennis Howell and Lynn Howell. Her memory lives on through her surviving family: her sisters, Brenda Howell and Glenda Amox, along with Glenda’s husband, Clint; three nephews, Preston Amox, Clinton Holmes, and Brandon Howell; her great-nephew, Erik Paul Holmes, Jr.; and her great-niece, Mandy Taylor Holmes.

Ethel’s warm presence, love for beauty, and dedication to family will be missed by all who knew her.
