Frances Louise Woods Simon, 88, was taken home to live with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. She went peacefully in her sleep at her home in Linden, Texas surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 21, 1932 in Abilene, Texas to Thomas Winston and Opal Louise Yates Woods.

Frances graduated from Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas. She met the father of her three children, Dorman Russell Simon Sr., in 1952 in Abilene, Texas where she worked as a window decorator for Woolworth Retail Store, and he worked down the street at the local drug store.  They were married on January 9, 1953 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. She retired from J.C. Penney Insurance Company and worked as a nanny for different families in Fort Worth, Texas for several years before moving to Linden, Texas in 2006, living with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved her family, friends, members of Pinecrest Baptist Church Sunday School class, her country but most of all, she loved her God.Frances leaves to cherish her memory a younger sister, Betty Woods Wall of Abilene, Texas; sisters-in-law Juana Woods Watson of Abilene, Texas and Lou Simon Fleming of Mason, Texas. Her daughters Donna Marie Simon of Linden, Texas and Debra Kay and Ron Dickinson of Linden, Texas; and one son Dorman Russell Jr. and Tracie Robbins Simon, Arlington, Texas. Her grandchildren include Sean Wesley Dickinson of Flower Mound, Texas; Russell Brandon and Megan Conn Dickinson of Texarkana, Texas; Ryan Bradley and Emily Snider Dickinson of Elysian Fields, Texas, Lauren Ashlie and Jeffrey James Dillon of Arlington, Texas; and Garrett Russell and Tara Fabling Simon of Arlington, Texas.  Her great grandchildren, who lovingly called her “GG” (great grandmother) includes Rylan Elizabeth, Ryden Benjamin and Ryker Beck Dickinson of Elysian Fields, Texas; Harper Wren and Heidi Reese Dickinson of Texarkana, Texas; James Russell (Jaime) Dillon of Arlington, Texas and Macie Lynn Simon of Arlington, Texas.

Frances loved her Dallas Cowboys, wearing a jersey to watch the games, always sure this would help them win. In her younger years, she was an avid gardener loving her flowers, excellent seamstress and loved to travel. 

Celebration of Life Service for Frances Simon of Linden, Texas will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Pinecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Baggett and Rev. Richard Dickinson officiating and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden, Texas.
