Graveside services for Mr. George “Bear” Washington, 75, of Douglassville, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Lanark Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Mr. Washington passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Texarkana.
George W. “Bear” Washington, 75, beloved son, brother, father, friend, and cousin of Douglassville, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2026. George was born on April 25, 1951, to the late Macy Washington Sr. and Margrett Ree Dickerson Washington.
George was a hardworking man who loved the LORD, Westerns, the DALLAS COWBOYS, and his family. He was known for cleaning chitterlings and fish and took pride in doing so. He was a jokester, and you were sure to laugh in his presence.
He graduated from Douglass High School and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who loved his country and was proud to be an American. He faithfully served his country during his military service.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Macy Washington Sr. and Margrett Ree Dickerson Washington, both of Douglassville, Texas. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Washington, Robert Washington, Macy Washington Jr., and Willie B. Washington; and his sisters, Bennie Washington Mitchell, Doris Washington Evans, and Martha Washington Warren.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alta Washington of Wake Village, Texas; four daughters, Tanika Brown, Linda Washington, Farrah (Dominic) Willis, and Anastasia Washington; two sons, Anthony (Mia-Sherro) Washington and Keith Williams Sr.; one special grandson, Joseph Coffee Jr.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his beloved brothers and sisters, Raymond Washington of Douglassville, Texas; Johnny and Pearl Washington of Marietta, Texas; Mabel Washington Swain of Atlanta, Texas; and Annie Washington James and Earnest James Sr. of Wichita, Kansas; special friend, Sandra Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including two special nieces, Lucille Peoples and Shawnic James Richardson; four special nephews, Patrick Washington, Johnny Washington Jr., Willie Edmond Jr., and Lewis James Jr.; and a special cousin, Joyce Washington.
