Funeral services for Mr. George Menefee, age 74, of Hughes Springs, will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Hughes Springs Community Church, with Bishop Jessie Biles officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  Mr. Menefee will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024 at the funeral home. Mr. Menefee passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

George Menefee (GW) was born in Marshall, Texas, February 22,1950 to Raymond and Iola Menefee. He attended Carver High School in Omaha Texas. He grew up in the community of Williams Chapel in Naples, TX. There he was surrounded by a loving community that became his extended family. (Hillis, Ivery, and Williams) While living there he also was a member of William’s Chapel Baptist Church and as an adult he faithfully watched Bountiful Blessings Church of God, where he paid tithes and offering monthly. Gee worked at Lesco Trucking for many years

He met and married Gale Jones from Hughes Springs, Texas. They were married for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Iola; brother, Billy Menefee; sister, Netta Haskins; and son-in-law, Tony Parker.

His legacy will continue to live on through: wife, Gale Menefee of Hughes Springs, TX; one son, Terrance Menefee (wife Arlinthia); two daughters, Letitia Ford (husband Tony) of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Yulanda Menefee of Hughes Springs, TX; seven grandkids, Ka’Darrian Chism and Micah Saunders of Mt. Pleasant TX, Ty’Kevian Menefee, Tyeson Parker, Dakeevian Chism, Devin Chism, Ava Hopkins all of Hughes Springs ,TX; great-grandsons, Mak’Son Saunders, Koah Chism; great-granddaughter, Aubrielle Chism; special nieces and nephew, Marcia Haskins (Mansfield TX) and Vicent Haskins (wife Stacy) Redwater, TX, LaRoysha “JoJo” White (husband Eric) of South Carolina; great-nephews, Jalen & Tyre Haskins (Redwater, TX); and a host of devoted family and friends.
