LINDEN Services for Gerald Howard Stark, 56, of Avinger, will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 7, 2008 at Avinger United Methodist Church with Bro. Richard Dowden officiating. Burial will be in Avinger Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Stark was born in Alexandra, LA on September 13, 1951 to Herbert and Mary Belle Wilson Stark. He passed away at his home on Friday, July 4, 2008. He was a self employed welder, past Post Commander of Linden VFW Post 6968, a Navy veteran, a member of Avinger United Methodist Church, and an avid outdoors man. Survivors include his wife, Maurita Stark; a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Becky Hayes of Gilmer; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Scott Green of Lufkin; a brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Wilma Stark of Port Isabel; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Virginia and Loyd LaCombe of Effie, LA; six grandchildren, Tyson Hayes, Jessie Hayes, Ashley Hayes, Michelle Hayes, Haylen Green and Tanner Green; also, several nieces and nephews.

How you were with my uncle in the Navy, and you two were raised like brother togather, shareing life ,love, sorrow and family for many years.   16. Gerald, what can you say about a man who could put up with a family like ours, he was awesome. Not only was he a blessing to Aunt Maurita but, a blessing to us all. I will remember always when we were all singing in the back of the shop. We were very glad to have you as our Uncle. We love and will miss you.
