Halbert Alvin Cato, 79, of Avinger, Texas passed away March 9, 2021. Mr. Cato was born March 15, 1941 in Hughes Springs, Texas to Bassie Calloway Cato and Emma Mae Shaddix.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Joyce Ann Cato; children, Lou Ann King of McLeod, Alvin Cato and wife Bobbie of Hughes Springs, Kathy Renfro of Marshall, Terry Cato and fiance's Serena Vanhecke of Hughes Springs, Wayne Cato of Hughes Springs, Betty Cato and fiance' Dean Davis of Leesburg, Sharon Cato and fiance' Kevin McMurray of Avinger, Tyriek Rabb (grandson raised like a son) of Avinger, one brother Van Cato and wife Lois of Celeste, grandchildren Tonya King, Crystal Martindale, Christopher (Tony) King, Ashley Russell, Krista Clayton, Chris McGuire, Ricky White, Chasity Immel, Michael Cato, Celecia Cato, Madison Shay, Jonn Blainee, McKayla Faith, Selena Davis. Great Grandchildren Madalynn and Hunter Paddy, Chloe and Colby Daniels, Maci Martindale, Carson, Hailey Rose and Emmitt King, Marlisha Swain, Shayla Russell, Libertee Roberson, Brenton Clayton, Avah McGuire, Carlie Ganoa, Kaylee Immel, Rilee McBride, Tori and Brayden Cato, Alenas Taylor, Jesse Martinez and numerous other family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Gladys Ebert, Catherine Beal, Lovely, Dovely, Judy Marie, and Margie Cato; brothers, Howard and Thurman Cato; grandson, Benjamin King and great-granddaughter, Madison Montgomery.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Russell officiating. Burial to follow at Dennis Cemetery and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home.
