LINDEN Funeral services for Haskell Leonard Bubba McMillon, Jr., 36, of Ore City, will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Linden United Methodist Church with Mayor Glen Breazeale and the Honorable Don Dowd officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home, Inc., in Linden. A visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. McMillon was born August 21, 1973 in Linden and he passed away October 3, 2009 in a Longview hospital. Mr. McMillon was Chief of Police for the City of Ore City, a fourth generation peace officer; a member of the Ore City Lions Club, was a 1992 graduate of LindenKildare High School, a graduate of Northeast Texas Community College Police Academy and was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca McMillon of Ore City; his parents, Haskell and Barbara McMillon, Sr., of Linden; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mark McMillon of Bloomberg and Greg and Terri McMillon of Hughes Springs; a sister, Sandy Medlin of Linden; two nephews, Justin McMillon of Texarkana and Trevor McMillon of Queen City; three nieces, Kelsey McMillon of Queen City, Brittany McMillon of Dallas, Taylor McMillon of Hughes Springs; an aunt and uncle, Viola and Bob Ross of Van; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Dorothy McMillon. Honorary pallbearers will be area law enforcement officers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and Museum, P.O. Box 2570, Waco, TX 76702.

  1. Our friendship was truly a blessing. Bubba was like a brother to me and he was one of the best friends I ever had. We will all miss him. My thoughts and prayers go out to the McMillon family. May God Bless and comfort you in the days ahead.

Haskell was a fine young man and from what I have seen and heard he was a fine public servant. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

  7. Haskell worked for us at Ihop every saturday night as security and will be missed greatly, Personally during the school year while he was at the cross walk on hwy 259 i never went by that i did not get a wave from him. He was very well known and helpful to many.

  18. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I worked with Haskell for 5 years at Titus County Sheriff's Department. We both worked graveyards a lot. His pranks(and there were a lot of them) and conversation made the nights go by fast. It was just the other day that he, a former officer, and I were just reminiscing about the "good ol' days" at TCSO on Facebook. He was a sweet kind, gentle man that will be greatly missed.

MARK AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW WE ARE SO VERY SORRY- WE UNDERSTAND HOW IT FEELS TO HAVE A LOSS THAT SOMEHOW SOMETHING SHOULD HAVE GONE DIFFERENT-YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO GRIEVE- MISS HIM- FEEL ANGER – BUT IT WILL TAKE TIME- NOBODY KNOWS HOW LONG.   28. I spent many nights patrolling with Haskell at Ore City! He started in May and I started in June so we went through the "growing pains" of being a rookie together. I will never forget him! My prayers are with his family. Haskell, Rest in Peace brother….we'll take it from here!
