Funeral services for Hattie Elizabeth Dodson, 92, of Avinger, will be Friday, May 30, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Bro. Dale Carter and Carroll Pendley officiating. Burial will be at Bear Creek Cemetery near Avinger, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Dodson was born February 27, 1916 in McCurtain County, OK and she died May 26, 2008 in a Longview, TX hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Avinger where she was active in WMU and she kept the nursery. Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law Noble L. and Joy Dodson of New Boston, TX, Eddie Wayne and Helen Dodson of Avinger, TX and Alton Gene and Charlotte Dodson of Hughes Springs, TX; three daughters and sons-in-law Connie Pearl and James Carpenter, Linda Kay and Paul Davis and Ruby Lawan and Carlton Parsons all of Daingerfield, TX; two sisters Edna Newsom of Daingerfield, TX and Nellie Thompson of Modesto, CA; and one daughter-in-law Loretta Dodson of Albany, OR; 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred J. and Nannie Williams Morse, her husband Alton Parker Dodson; two sons Donald Ray and Freddie Dow Dodson; two daughters Rachel and Nancy Jo Dodson and one grandson Frank Alton Dodson. She will lie in state Thursday, May 29 afternoon and evening and the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
