Services for Ms. Hazel Everett Jones, 92, of Daingerfield will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Daingerfield High School Auditorium. 

Burial will be 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2019 at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Mrs. Hazel Evelyn Jones (Muh) was born December 3, 1926 in Omaha, Morris County, Texas to the parentage of the late James D. Everett, Sr. and Ardella Pinky Heath Everett. She attended public school in Omaha. 

Later, she married Arthur Lee Jones, Sr., the son of the late Airy and Lola Jones. To this union three children were born: Arthur Lee Jones, Jr., Evelyn Ruth McNeil, and Joyce Ann Jones. 

She was a member and usher at New Hope Baptist Church in Daingerfield, Texas for many years. She worked from the years 1963-2005 for Golden Frost Poultry Plant, later known as Pilgrim's Pride. She started out as a line worker and later became a USDA Inspector. Before the end of her work career, she was employed with Jordan Home Health, serving as a healthcare provider for the elderly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and four brothers. 

She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Arthur Lee Jones, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Evelyn Ruth McNeil of Garland, Texas, and Joyce Ann Jones of Daingerfield, Texas; one sister, Elizabeth Nickleberry of Omaha, Texas; four grandchildren, Sandra Lewis Bradford (Harrison) of Crestview, FL, DelMatine Peters Johnson (Anthony) of Lone Star, TX, Jamal D. Jones (Sekeitha) of Dallas, TX, Anthony Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandchildren: Cameron Grant, Peyton Grant, Galen Grant, Marcell Peters, Ashley Bennett (King), Porschia Peters, Karmala Duffey (Jarrell), Chavius Peters, Shayla Peters, Whitney Peters,Chris Johnson, (Seferina), Mercedes Johnson, Shaqulle Jones, Sanaa Jones, Jarius Smith, Jaila Smith, Synciere Smith; twenty-eight, great great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, George Gene McNeil, Jr. and Jacqueline McNeil, both of Mephis, Tennessee; and a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

  6. Muh, you fought a good fight lady. You’re one of the strongest women I know and admire . I know Jamal told you I mastered cooking your dressing. LOL . The kids said different, I think he told me that to make me feel good. But we never got sick Muh. One thing I did master if I must say so myself was your sweet potatoe pudding. I will never have Thanksgiving dinner if I don’t have your pudding Muh. So thank you for your wisdom in the kitchen. By the way that pudding is named Muh’s sweet potatoe pudding. Take your rest now , you gave us 92 Beautiful years of memories. But I’m selfish, If love could have saved you, you would still be here. Muhdear, Hazel Jones we love ?? you and will mourn you until we join you. Rest on now😭

Funeral services for Hazel Marie Jones, 80, of Ore City, will be at 2 P.M., Saturday, February 26 at Faith Temple Church in Daingerfield with Pastor James Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Jones Family Cemetery near Ore City under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening, February 25, at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. She loved babysitting and coin-collecting. Mrs. Jones died Monday, February 14 at a Mount Pleasant hospital. She was born November 6, 1931 in Morris County. She married Melvin Jones Sr. in 1952, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by two sons James T. Jones and Melvin L. Jones Jr. of Ore City; four brothers and two sisters, four uncles and two aunts. She attended J.J. Rhoads High School in Daingerfield. She was a member of Saint James Methodist Church in her younger years. With her husband, she attended Snow Hill Baptist Church in Ore City, Texas. She later moved to Daingerfield, where she worked at Foreman Nursing Home for many years and also at Pilgrims Poultry for 10 years. She moved back to Ore City and attended Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ in Cason until her health failed her. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law Ruthie Brown of Bettie, Linda Williams of Ore City, Virginia Crawford of Cason, Janis and Loyd Johnson of Omaha; three sons and daughters-in-law Ronnie and Mary Jones of Daingerfield, William C. and Timotha Jones of Daingerfield, Kelvin Jones of Cason; two sisters and brothers-in-law Dovie Rivers of Mount Pleasant and Bessie King of Cason; three brothers Harold Wilkerson of Fort Worth, Charlie Ray Wilkerson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and John B. Carter of Dorchester, Mass.; two sisters-in-law Sarah Hall of Mount Pleasant and Maurine Taylor of Cason; 23 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.   1. I am feeling absolutely over joyed at finding this obituary. This is my Grandmother who I have searched for for so long! I didn't have the opportunity to meet her, my father (Melvin Lloyd Jones) or any of his family before his passing. I wish I had of had the opportunity to meet her in life.
