Helen Louise Crawford, 93, of Ore City Texas went home to be with her Lord on April 5, 2021.  Helen was born on February 27, 1928 in Chambersville Arkansas to George and Ila Hearnsberger.  She moved to Texas with her family and completed high school in Garrison Texas.  It was there after the war ended, she met and married Dub Crawford.  Helen and Dub eventually made their home in Ore City where they raised their children.

Helen was a devoted Christian, wife and mother. She was a charter member of Lakeview Baptist Church.  She served in many areas of church service from teaching Sunday School, Training Union and Bible School.  She was known for humble spirit, sweet smile and being a servant of the Lord.

She is survived by her children: sons, Durand Crawford(wife Cathy) and Grady Crawford; daughter, Gail Kuykendall (husband Curtis). Grandchildren: Carri Opperud, Daniel Crawford, Cody Crawford, Stephen Wilson, Noah Crawford, Nicole Dent, Lyndsey Andrews. Great grand-children: Katie, Evan, Mercedes, Chase, Savannah, Ryder and Lyla; and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, W.D. (Dub) Crawford of 66 years; Parents, George and Ila Hearnsberger; brother, GE Hearnsberger.

Our family would like to say a special Thank you to the staff at Buckner Westminister Place where our mother resided the past three years.  They were able to provide the extra help and care she needed while being able to stay close to her friends and church family she loved so much.

Services will be 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City with Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating.  Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at Holly Springs Cemetery in Garrison, Texas and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.

There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.

  3. It’s been years since we lived in Ore City, TX. My parents were Milah J (deceased), & June Walker still thriving in St. Augustine. The Crawford’s were dear family friends. Mrs. Crawford was a sweet and beautiful lady. Sending sympathy and prayers.

  8. Rest In Peace, Sweet Lady, in the Arms of Angels in the presences of GOD! You and Dub always made me feel special, as a guest in your home, when I visited after school. My memories of Ore City always included both you and Dub. May the both of you Waltz Across Heaven Together!
