Henry A. Brookshire, Jr.

Services for Mr. Henry A. Brookshire, Jr., 90, of Ore City will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Henry A. Brookshire, Jr. was born March 19, 1931 in Gilmer, Texas to Henry Brookshire, Sr. and Opal Campbell Brookshire. He passed away August 20, 2021.
Henry was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Army National Guard for 31 years, retiring a a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a past member of the Ore City School Board and served as School Board President for a number of years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sonya Frances Brookshire; and sister, Sally Pool.
Henry is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry C. and Anita Brookshire, Mark and Paula Brookshire, all of Ore City; three grandchildren, Clifton Brookshire and wife, Heather, Stephanie McIntosh and husband, Nick, Melissa McPherson and husband, Justin; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Carson, Collette, Collier, and Steven; and a host of other relatives and friends.
What a great and wonderful man. Mr Brookshire and Sonya where great friends to me and helped out when I needed some friends the most. They where always their for my mother and they remained friends forever.. I had so much respect and love for these two people. My heart is sad, but hallelujah they are all together with the Lord rejoicing..My prayers for the family 🙏??
Have lots of memories with Mr. Henry and his wife Mrs. Sonya from days I attended Lakeview Baptist Church, prayers for his family during this sorrowful time.

Mr. Brookshire is a big part of my childhood. I remember living in camp joy with my grandpa and this was just a small circle we called family at one time. Mr. Brookshire was very kind and apart of that circle. My condolences to the family.

Uncle HA was a good man, with a good story and laugh to share. He was always willing to do anything for anybody. He will be missed by so many people. Sending love to my cousins at this time of grief. Uncle HA was loved by all his neighbors and many friends.

Dad and I loved playing Bridge with Henry and Sonya and learned so much from them. Mr. Henry helped so many people to have homes, transportation, and other things but was humble about it. He encouraged folks to attend church. The greatest thing I can say about him is that he loved his wife and the Lord….and the country that he proudly served.
