Each life tells a story. Some stories told will speak of long years lived and some will tell of infinite deeds, good works, kindness, and acts of kindness and charity. Those wo live and understand the one great truth, that life is a gift from God, are also wise enough to recognize that each breath taken, is done so involuntarily. Our breath is in God’s hands. On Friday, January 24, 2025, God, in His vast wisdom spoke to His servant, Henry S. Peters, and said, “Let us go to the other side”. Mark 4:35
Henry Spear “Pop” Peters went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2025, at the age of 84. Henry was born on February 4, 1940, to the parentage of Frankie Lee Fridia Peters and Henry Lee Peters. Both parents preceded him in death. Pop attended JJ Rhodes Heights School in Daingerfield, Texas. After high school he married his high school sweetheart, Eddie Dean Anderson, on August 28, 1958. To that union, five children were born. They were married for 49 years until her death.
Pop was a private man who loved to work, fish, hunt and garden. He always had a good coon dog and kept a big garden. He loved watching stuff grow and enjoyed the smile on people’s face when he would give them the vegetables he grew. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. Pop taught his children how to work and that it was necessary to work. He worked for Irvin/WOI Petroleum for 40 plus years as a diesel truck driver.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Henry and Frankie Peters; his wife, Eddie Peters; his son, Calvin Wayne Peters; three sisters, Margaret Grant, Shirley Beard, and Margie Nell Coats; one brother, Bobby Peters; one sister-in-law, Nancy Smith; and two nephews, Herbert Coats, Jr. and Derrick Peters.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Beverly (Robert) Chism and Barbara Peters; two sons, Carl (Priscilla) Peters and Steve (Chandra) Peters; one daughter-in-law, Lutricia Peters; two brothers, Billy Don Smith of Michigan and Billy Charles Peters of Longview, Texas; one brother-in-law, Herbert Coats, Sr.; and two sisters-in-law, Earlie mae Wilkerson of Greenville, Texas and Maudie Peters of Cason, Texas.
Henry Spear Peters will forever be etched in our hearts as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will also be greatly remembered by 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.

Condolences to you and your family.Praying that you can find some comfort
So long my friend. We will see each other again. 🙏
My deepest prayers and condolences goes out to the Peters family. I love you guys.
I met Pop through my first husband, Ron Jordan, in the early 1970s. Every time I saw him in town he always had a smile for me. Wherever he was in the courthouse he stopped by the office with that smile for a short visit.
Many prayers for Pop’s family and friends.
