Hershel Stroman, age 71, of Avinger, Texas, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Reeder-Davis Chapel, with burial to follow at Avinger Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. A time of visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Thursday and continue until service time.

Hershel was born on May 19, 1953, in Marion County, Texas, to Thurman and Joyce Stroman. He spent his life working hard, first as a welder and later as a concessionaire. A man who loved the outdoors, Hershel found joy in coon hunting, fishing, deer hunting, and camping. Whether spending time under the stars or watching his favorite old westerns, he appreciated life’s simple pleasures.

Hershel will be remembered as a kind and caring man who was private at times, often thoughtful, and known for his ability to balance a serious nature with a good sense of humor. His love for his family was clear, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Joyce Stroman.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Shannon Stroman of Hughes Springs; Joseph Stroman and his wife Carolyn of Harleton; Abbie McKinney and her husband Joe of Hughes Springs; and Hershel Stroman and his wife Casey of Daingerfield. He is also survived by his siblings: Wayne Stroman; Linda Flori and her husband Robert; Janet Meredith; Tonia Sauceda and her husband Flo; Barbie Golden and her husband Steve; and Elaine Roe and her husband Lewis. Hershel leaves behind 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
