Irene Lovelia King James was welcomed into Gods loving arms on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the age of 88. Mrs. James was born on July 31, 1923 in Marietta, Texas. A life long resident of Marietta, Irene was preceded in death by her husband R.P. James Sr.; son R.P. James, Jr.; daughter Shirley James-Hudson; parents Lorenza and Rosie Bonner-King; and brother Roosevelt King. She is survived by her daughter Loner J. James, of Dallas; her sisters Eva Caldwell and Gertrude Johnson, of Dallas, TX, Lena Johnson of Compton, CA; her brother Chat King of Long Beach, CA; her daughter-in-law Cala Parker James of Marietta; her grandsons Courtney Watson of Duncanville,TX, Shadrick James of Cedar Hill, TX, Shane Hudson and R.P. James III of Longview, and LaRoderick Roberson of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughters LaKita Bell-Luckey, Miko Bell-Miller and Tracye James-Brown of Marietta, and Marsha Parker of Longview; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; many other relatives and numerous friends. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta, TX.

  3. PoemsAunt Irene was always loved to speak. I can remember at the family reunions she always loves to read a poem. I really enjoyed her poems because they would always fit the occasion. If it was a church event, Aunt Irene always would have a poem prepared. I often where should would get these poems from, because many of them I had never heard, then again she could have written them herself. I will miss you Aunt Irene. Love youGlenda
