LINDEN Iris Mae Allen, 91, of Linden, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, at her home in Carterville. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 9, 2009, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden, with Bros. Jamie Starrett and Chris Shupe officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeal Home. A visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. Mrs. Allen was born January 14, 1918 in Cass County, Texas, to J. E. and Lula Young White. She was activity director for the former Oak Manor Nursing Home where she started the volunteer organization Helping Hands. With her husband, M. B. Allen, she owned a grocery store in the Almira community. She was a charter member of Mill Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, M. B. Allen. Survivors include a special niece she raised, Jeanell Cannon and husband, Clyde, of Hooks; and many other nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
