Mr. James Edward Austin was born to the parentage of Mr. Matthew Austin, Jr. and Mrs. Jessie Ruth Austin on October 22, 1960; he transitioned March 1, 2021. Both parents preceded him in death; along with his brother, Mr. Andrew Austin.

During his childhood, James attended the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, he united with the Shiloh Temple of Faith under the leadership of Pastor Dennis Traylor. He loved his church family and was active until his health failed.

James attended and graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1979. He was highly involved in sports activities and often regaled his family with tales of his athletic exploits.

James was employed by Tuboscope for many years. Using the skills, he learned from his father, James was a self-employed carpenter since his teenage years.

Many will remember James for his lively, vibrant, and friendly personality. He loved to visit with friends and would often walk and visit the elderly in the community.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Mary Jones of Daingerfield and Ms. Margaret Austin of Lancaster; three brothers, Samuel Austin of Daingerfield, Mark (Robbie) Austin of Lancaster, and Matthew Austin of Daingerfield; sisters-in-law, Darlene Connally and Jackie Austin; aunt, Bessie Faye King; former spouse, Angela Satterfield Austin; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Shiloh Temple of Faith. Burial will follow at Daingerfield Rhoads Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Austin will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
