James Ellis Williams LINDEN, TX Memorial service for James Ellis Williams, 92, of Linden will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden. Mr. Williams was born in Linden March 5, 1919 to Ellis Calvin and Roxie Fant Williams. He passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 in a Linden nursing center. He was a retired school teacher having taught in Houston, Texas, was a WWII Army veteran and a member of First Baptist Church in Linden. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Jewel and Fred Laurentz. He is survived by a nephew, Alan Laurentz of Columbus, Texas; two nieces Laurel Mortenson of Rowlett and Anita Laurentz of Lago Vista, Texas; several cousins, other family members and friends. The world has lost one of its most creative sons. Jimmy brought laughter and distinctiveness wherever he went. He will be remembered for many things: teaching, serving our country, his attire, his artistic, creative nature and his disarming sense of humor, with a delightful ability to laugh at himself. Everyone who came in contact with him has a story (or more!) to tell about him. His perspective on the things of this world will be greatly missed. He was poised and genuine, yet driven by artistic values and observations beyond the capacity of most onlookers. He was never daunted by the limitations that hold others back. We waited with bated breath to be regaled by the next thing he would say or do. He continued to amuse, astound and engage his final audiences. He made us more intelligent and unique simply by association. We will forever miss him. An online guest book maybe signed at www.reeder-davis.com

  4. My neighbor for many years…he loved yard sales, auctions, his ol dog, Brandy, walking around town, 'moon bathing' and just being himself. RIP little man.

  5. Your grandmother Roxie and my mother, Louise Dodd, were first cousins. I met your mother through garden club work after she moved back to Linden and met James Ellis at the Fant reunion. His was a long and unique life, and I pray that your memories are a comfort at this time.
