LINDEN, TX-Funeral services for James Fred Holland, 81, of Linden will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Linden with Bros. Jackie Stanfield, Don Phelps and Charles Russell officiating. Interment will be in Center Hill Cemetery in Linden under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Holland will lie in state Monday and family will receive friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. at the funeral home. Mr. Holland was born December 3, 1929 in Linden to Fred and Lavada Holland . He died April 9, 2011, in Linden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Linden, and he worked for Lone Star Steel Co. for 42 years. Mr. Holland also belonged to the Linden Masonic Lodge 192. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Golda Holland of Linden; one son and daughter-in-law Stacy and Stacie of Linden; and two daughters and one son-in-law, Lou Jennings of Austin, and Carrie and Steve Surratt of Cleburne; one brother, Doug Holland and wife, Sylvia, of Hughes Springs; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Holland was preceded in death by two daughters, Dena Holland and Robin Tobert; one grandchild, Catherine Jennings; and one brother, Homer George Holland. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Linden in lieu of flowers. An online guestbook may be signed at www.reeder-davis.com

Heather and Conrad will attend the funeral representing our side of the family. Daniel moved heaven and earth to make it too, but his schedule was too tight to travel.     Years ago my parents made the decision that when their time came they wanted Reeder Davis to handle their burial services, So as hard as it is to lose your parents their time to go did come and when it did, We relied on Reeder Davis to help our family through the arrangements that needed to be made and all I can say is their commitment, compassion and their understanding made such a difficult process much easier. Our funeral director Amy, from our first meeting to our last was so kind, She shared in our laughter of funny memories and she shared in our tears seeing our grief. My sister suddenly passed away a month after my dad and again, Kris and Amy were there to help us and we were so grateful. Kris, Thank you for the care you gave to us and for being so kind and thoughtful. I will never forget everything that all of you did for my family .

    Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. in Linden and Chris were there for me and my family when Keith passed away. Chris is so caring and thoughtful and was able to help me make it through the entire process of caring for Keith and my family until the final burial. He made the journey of death so much easier by his respect for our needs and his compassion for our pain and sorrow. I have known his staff for a long time and they also helped lighten our sorrow by their outpouring of love and compassion. Reeder-Davis also took care of my precious mom when she passed away three years after Keith. I still hug Chris and thank him whenever I can for helping me through losing loved ones.
