HUGHES SPRINGSFuneral services for James Wesley Wallace, 76, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Hughes Springs, will be at 10 AM, Thursday, October 23 at Reeder Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs, with Rev. Roy Conatser officiating. Burial will be at Harris Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Wallace was born in Hughes Springs on April 30, 1932 to James Elmore and Daisey Louella Wallace and died on October 20, 2008 at Avera Prince of Peace Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean War; he attended East Texas State Teachers College where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Physics. He taught school in New Boston and later went to work at Lone Star Steel where he retired. Survivors include two sons James William Wallace from Sioux Falls, SD and John Wesley Wallace from Vermillion, SD; two brothers Charles and Robert Rab Wallace both of Hughes Springs; two grandsons Cameron Parker Wallace of St. Paul, MN and Garrett Taylor Wallace of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Julia (Judy) Marie Gibson. He will lie in state on Wednesday, October 22 at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM.
