Janice was born August 13, 1928 in Onyx, Arkansas to Ranzie L. and Effie (Yates) Nichols. She attended school in Onyx, Arkansas her first 8 grades and then attended Plainview, Arkansas High School graduating in 1947. After graduating, she ventured off to Daingerfield, Texas to visit family. While attending dances at the Daingerfield State Park, she met Willie O’Dell “Bud” McDaniel. She and her love were married the following August. The adjustment from being an only child into a family of eight siblings and spouses with several children was gradual and joyful. Arkansas was always in her heart and she loved returning there every opportunity she had.
Janice was a member of First Baptist Church of Hughes Springs where she was involved with the Lamplighters Sunday School Class. She fostered the spiritual growth of her two girls by making sure they were in Sunday School and Church, as well as youth trips and other church functions. She helped with Brownies and Girl Scouts, as well as attending all school functions, including band booster club and sports events. When left to raise two small girls after the passing of her husband, Janice did sewing for the public for several years and worked as a postal clerk. After serving her community with pride for 25 years, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She always loved the outdoors especially working with her flowers and even mowing her own yard.
Janice is preceded in death by her husbands, Willie O’Dell “Bud” McDaniel and Porter Callaway; parents, Ranzie and Effie Nichols; and a baby brother, Ranzie Nichols, Jr.

So very sorry.
God bless you, Kay, and your wonderful family with the good memories. With love
Dear Debbie and Kay, I was so deeply saddened when I learned that your dear sweet mother had passed away. She was such a sweet lady and I loved her as my own. She was so attentive to the Girl Scouts troup that she helped lead. I always got a hug from her when our paths crossed. May God comfort you with His love and the peace that passes all understanding surround you. Love, Alice
