Burial will be at Cornett Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Jerry Bob Womack, 71, passed away on February 26 from a heart attack in Greenwood, MS. He was born on September 23, 1939 in Hughes Springs, TX. A lifetime lover of Texas, he graduated from Letourneau University with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Jerry was a man who constantly put that degree to use in both his professional life as well as his personal life. He was a dedicated and loving family man who found joy in taking care of his home and family. Jerry was always a strong and humble man. He was the rock of his family. Jerry and Mary Beth were married on March 14, 1964. During their 47 years of marriage, they shared many dreams together. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, and Mary shared his love of the outdoors. When Bobby and Gina were born, they too were inducted into the Womack love of the outdoors. The family subsequently spent many years working in the yard, on the water fishing, and in the woods hunting and camping. There were many a day and night when the family enjoyed a fishing or hunting trip together. They were truly family adventures with Jerry at the helm, and they generated an abundance of fond memories and tall tales! Upon moving from Vicksburg, MS to Greenville, MS in 1981, Jerry began building his dream home. This loving home is where he and Mary ultimately retired. Jerry worked at Brintons U.S. Axminster until he retired in 2005. Upon retirement, Jerry was able to spend his free time mastering his golf game and beating everyone around him at dominoes. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beth; their two children, Bobby and his wife, Tammy; Gina and her husband, Gary; three grandchildren; Katey, Max and Grace; a sister, Marilyn Sims and other family and friends.

The Muni GangJerry was the senior member of a very special group of guys that I was proud to call friends. Our golf gang formed up in the early/mid nineties and carried on strong for some ten years. Jerry, Mike, Duke, Doug, Larry, Larry, Roger, Al and Cecil, along with myself and others over those years formed a great bond centered around golf at first, but later around friendship.I felt like a kid at Christmas every Friday and Saturday night, and we would all start watching the weather channel about Wednesday of each week to see what we would be up against the coming weekend. I'm not sure why we obsessed about the weather, because come hail or high water, we WERE playing. Some of my fondest memories are of pulling up to the course about 6:30 on Saturday morning, seeing Jerry already on the practice range. If you wanted to hit balls, you had better get there early, because at 7:00, Jerry would issue the call to arms, "come on, boys, we're wasting daylight."We had many wonderful times, and my only regret about leaving Greenville was leaving my guys behind. So here's to you, Jerry. We had a great ride, and I know you'll hit 'em all long and straight from now on.
