Jerry Lee Yates, of Atlanta, Texas, entered heaven on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the age of 81. Jerry was born on December 12, 1942, in Atlanta, Texas to Artie Yates and Tressie Tims Yates. He is preceded in death by his parents: Artie and Tressie Yates; and his infant brother, James. He is survived by his bride of 60 years, Brenda Warren Yates of Atlanta, Texas; his daughters: LeAnn (Michael) Lee of Linden, Texas and Amy (Ricky) Nieman of Lubbock, Texas; his grandchildren: Jace (Devon) Lee of College Station, Texas and Allyson (Cody) Fuller of Atlanta, Texas; great-grandchildren: Abby, Nora, Parker Kate, and Grayson; brothers: Ronald “Biggie” (Donna) Yates of Atlanta, Texas; Ronnie (Suzzone) Yates of Tyler, Texas; and Charles (Gail) Yates of Atlanta, Texas; sister-in-law Nita (Ronnie) Jones of Linden, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

Jerry retired from the Texas Department of Transportation with over 45 years of service. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in Linden, Texas, and he served as a deacon for 55 years at New Colony Baptist Church in Linden, Texas. He enjoyed golfing; watching the Aggies, Astros, and L-K Tigers; cheering on his grandkids in all their endeavors; and being with family. He could tell you anything you needed to know about District 19 roads, the weather, golf, sports, and the Aggies. He was a beloved husband, dad, father-in-law, brother, and Peep, and those that he loved were honored to be his.

Funeral services for Mr. Yates will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Pinecrest Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at New Colony Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.  There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State Area; or New Colony Cemetery Association c/o Judy Allen, 2798 FM 1841, Linden, Texas 75563. The family thanks the caregivers at Transcend Hospice for their compassionate care.
